LIP LIFT

A lip lift is a surgical procedure that elevates and helps shorten the distance between the nose and upper lip. It enhances drooping upper lips to create a wider smile and a more youthful appearance.

Lip lift procedures are suited to people showing signs of ageing, as age causes the upper lip to sag and the skin to become loose. However, it is also great for people with drooping lips and a less pronounced pink portion of the upper lip due to genetics or age. The lip lift procedure also corrects people who have an unintentional sad appearance as the corners of the lips face in a down ward position.

Lip lift surgery is relatively quick, with a minimum procedure time of thirty minutes under anaesthetic. The surgeon removes a portion of the skin between the top lip and nose, this then lifts the top lip up on the face. The incision is generally made on the outer line of the top lip, however this will be discussed in the patients’ consultation with the surgeon.

The recovery time for this procedure is relatively quick. Patients can leave the hospital or clinic once the anaesthesia has worn off. The first twenty-four hours may be uncomfortable for the patient however after twenty-four hours the patient is able to shower and apply make-up to the face. Swelling and bruising may be evident following the surgery however this will fade gradually throughout the first week.

The results of a lip lift can be enjoyed by the patient for several years without maintenance.
