The way we do this is simple; as experienced industry professionals, we know what qualities to look for in a surgeon. That’s why our network of reputable surgeons all offer exceptional quality of care and increase your chances of achieving an ideal final result.
Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a surgery that improves the facial proportions of the nose. It can also fix impaired breathing caused by natural or traumatic structural damage.
Rhinoplasty is a common aesthetic procedure aimed at correcting the appearance of the nose. Patients undertake rhinoplasty surgery to increase or decrease the size or proportions of their nose. This includes correcting the nasal symmetry, the nose bridge width, ‘hook nose’ and any other visible divots, bumps or lumps. Patients who require nasal surgery to assist with breathing and other functional issues often take the opportunity for visual enhancement to the nasal area.
Patients are given a general anaesthetic before the procedure begins. The incision is usually made inside the nostril and below the nose. The skin is then lifted so the surgeon is able to clearly see the nasal structure, before the actual reshaping of the nose structure takes place. The bone or cartilage is removed during this process and sometimes the addition of cartilage grafts is needed depending on the patients desired result. Once corrected, the surgeon closes the area with soluble stitches and a splint on the outside of the nose. If the septum is deviated, it is then straightened and the nose projections are reduced to improve breathing.
Rhinoplasty is generally a day surgery procedure, so patients are not required to remain in hospital overnight. The area will feel tender following the surgery and the splint will be required to remain on the nose for at least seven days. Paper tape will then be required to be worn over the nose for an additional week. Patients can resume regular activities two weeks after the surgery, however strenuous activities are not allowed for at least a month. Initial swelling will subside over a few weeks, but it might take at least one year for the nasal contour to completely refine. During this period, it’s normal to notice gradual changes in the nasal appearance.
Rhinoplasty is a permanent surgical procedure and should not require any additional maintenance or repetitive surgery. Patience is required to completely appreciate the result of the surgery as it could take up to a year to notice the final outcome.
